For Eelko van Iersel 'Zeven' (seven) stands for spirituality and mysticism.
'Zomers' (summers) means: warmth, sun, light, nature, beautiful colours,
strength and freedom. That is also the base from which Eelko works.
Eelko van Iersel is a visual artist and a graphical designer.
Zeven Zomers. Art is roughly devidible within two activities; Art and Designing.
ART
Paintings
The paintings of Zeven Zomers. Art, Eelko van Iersel, all have their own strength and
radiation. They are warm with colours and organic qua composition.
The paintings will give atmosphere and energetic power to your home, company or
presentation area.
Van Iersel makes non-figurative oil-paintings on canvas, paintings without direct recognizable
imaginations. Abstraction and expression with bright and powerfull colours.
Inspiration
inspiration is everywhere and always present. The only thing Eelko van Iersel does,
is keeping in head that he is a unique person, a creative spirit and a caring creature.
When he opens his mind for inspiration, with philosophy in mind, beautifful paintings will arise.
Other themes which he is interested in are; Oriental cultures, Andalucia (South Spain),
spiritual pictures, birth, beauty and strength.
Technique
Several years of paint experience resulted in a smooth control of different techniques.
Van Iersel paints with his hands, in this way he has a more direct and more intense contact
with his paintings. Copper-, Gold-, an Silver metallic pigments are being used, therefore the paintings
sparkle and light up in daylight or in artificial light.
The paintings 'live' and will move along with the daylight, dusk and darkness.
I use sand in the paintings, because of using this specific material, the paintings will 'live' more.
The work gets more robust, more raw and earthly..
Spanish Titles
The paintings often receive a Spanish title, like: Aparecido colorado, Los dos, Primavera
and Transparencia misteriosa. Van Iersel likes the Spanish language and is fond of
Andalusia (South Spain). A couple of years ago he travelled in South America for a while.
According to Van Iersel, Spanish titles sound nice and are a bit less straight forward than using the
Dutch translation. But, it is not about the titles in the first place at all, the paintings come first!
Garden-Paintings
Eelko van Iersel produces paintings for inside and outside. THe indoor paintings are made
of oil-paint on canvas. The outdoor paintings are made of materials which are resistant for
weather influences, moisture, warmth and frost. These outdoor paintings can add a
surprisingly nice atmosphere in your garden or for instance in your country house.
Van Iersel makes water-places made of ceramics, which have a natural and restfull presence
inside as well as outside the residence.
Graphical Designing
Graphical designing is the second category in which Zeven Zomers. Art, Eelko van Iersel is active.
The grafical designing activities are pointed towards fullfilling asignment up to 4 steady principals.
Eelko van Iersel: I work for the HSK Group, Cure & Care Publishers (CCP),
Cure & Care Development (CCD), Bohn Stafleu Van Loghum (BSL).
Those four companies all have their proceedings in relation with mental scientific healthcare.
Van Iersel has also worked for publisher 'De Blik' for seven months.
The equal called magazine 'De Blik' is a monthly printed magazine for residents of Nijmegen
and surroundings. Van Iersel makes corporate images , bookcovers, brochures and magazines.
Besides that he also fulfills graphical assignments for separate clients. For instance imagine:
businesscards, birth announcement cards, wedding notifications and brochures.
